[edit] DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS WITH APPLICATIONS USING MAPLE
This work covers material for an introductory course in the theory of dynamical systems. There is a short tutorial in MAPLE to facilitate the understanding of the theory. The text is divided into two parts: continuous systems using differential equations and discrete dynamical systems.
This work covers standard material for an introductory course in the theory of dynamical systems. A short tutorial in Maple is provided at the beginning of the book to facilitate understanding of the theory and to deal with the numerous examples, diagrams, and exercises. The main text is divided into two parts: continuous systems using differential equations and discrete dynamical systems. Differential equations are used to model examples taken from various topics such as mechanical systems, interacting species, electronic circuits, chemical reactions, and meteorology. The section on continuous systems ends with a study of limit cycles and the second part of Hilbert's 16th problem. Part II deals with both real and complex dynamical systems. Examples are taken from population modelling, nonlinear optics, and materials science. The audience for this work includes students and researchers in mathematics and engineering. Prerequisites are linear algebra and real and complex analysis. Knowledge of a computer language such as Pascal or Fortran will be beneficial but not essential.
