This book has been designed as an introduction to microprocessors or computer architecture for an electronics undergraduate or HND/C course. It differs from other books available in that it uses a design-orientated approach rather than a purely descriptive style dedicated to a particular commercial microprocessor. The accompanying software tool (IDE) provides a graphical simulation of a microprocessor. This will allow the student to test and demonstrate practical programs by animating the flow of data within the microprocessor as it executes the program. The IDE can be used to analyse the users own computer and does not need the use of a microprocessor systems laboratory.
