It provides solutions to the difficult problems facing power supply designers: shrinking size and increased thermal constraints. The CD-ROM contains every model in the book - in all three SPICE flavors - as well as demo versions of all three flavors.
This is a true designer's cookbook, a collection of ready-made SPICE solutions to some of the most difficult problems facing power supply designers: shrinking size and increased thermal constraints. All the common SMPS topologies are covered: buck, boost, buck-boost, and SEPIC, each type described in terms of relative strengths and weaknesses and then modeled. Designers only need to turn to the CD, pull out the model in the flavor of SPICE they use (all three are included in demo form) and plug in their own values - out comes a design solution. All the models in the book have been carefully simulated and tested at ON Semiconductor, and a web-site will allow new models to be posted on a continuing basis, and allow readers to feedback questions. New models will also be published in EDN Magazine with reference to the book and the web site. The CD-ROM contains every model in the book simulated in all 3 flavors of SPICE, as well as demo versions of all 3 flavors, so any user of the book can start from scratch, install the software and simulate the book examples without any SPICE experience at all.
